The teasel, which grows up to 2 meters tall, belongs to the honeysuckle family and is known by many different names (e.g. thirst forever, hedgehog head or weaver thistle). The natural distribution area of ​​the plant is in the Mediterranean, but for a long time it has also been found in most of the German federal states.

Humans knew how to make use of the plant parts of the thistle-like plant. For example, before industrialization, the flower heads of various card types (especially the Weber card but also the wild card) were used to comb unspun wool.
